Bowie - 9-10 month old male being fostered in PA!

ADOPTED!!

Bowie.....what can we say about this sweet boy???  A LOT!!  Bowie came to us from a high kill shelter in Texas after being there for almost 2 months - he's a lucky little guy!  SCD had him fully vetted and neutered and then had him transported to VA to a temporary foster home and now he's in PA with 2 other Carolina Dogs in a foster home that's working on crate training and good canine social skills - he has adapted well to each home he's been in!
At just 9 months old, he's still a baby with puppy energy and the urge to be silly and play until he passes out in a heap (lol he's just recharging for his next adventure!)  Bowie is very intelligent and picks up voice commands as well as hand signals with ease.  50 lbs. of pure playful puppy love and happiness!
We'd like to find him a home with at least 1 other dog to play with, one that can match his enthusiasm!   His energy may be a bit too much for very young children, so we'd recommend a home with children at least 12 + years.  He's a little TOO fond of cats so we'd prefer a home without them.  He absolutely HAS to have an active family that will take him hiking, running, swimming at a beach, playing in the backyard, outings to the dog park - remember he's a puppy and above that he's a Carolina Dog so he needs exercise.  Carolina Dogs are pack dogs, your family is their pack and they bond very closely with their humans.  We highly recommend training classes for him so he can learn all commands, bond with his guardian, and have direction in his life.
If Bowie sounds like the dog you've been dreaming about night after sleepless night - drop us an email at savingcarolinadogs@yahoo.com
He's waiting for you!!!

ADOPTED!!!

Every once in a while we come across a dog that's just GOOD....with everything!!  This is Jemma, a beautiful female Carolina Dog mix that we rescued in NC and brought into our rescue network.  Jemma likes everyone and everything - cats, dogs, children, running and playing, snuggling, going into her crate with no complaint, learning new commands....you name it, she's down for it!
Jemma is 55 lbs. of 'let's have a blast!!!' energy - so yes, she's a big girl but she's a love also.  She is currently being fostered with 2 cats, 2 awesome kids, and a sweet little Carolina Dog foster sister who watches Jemma run and jump and takes notes so she can follow her lead lol!

We are looking for an active family for her - no couch potatoes for this girl!  She loves to run and play and she's so good natured that dogs parks, beaches, etc. would be great for her.  She's working on her commands but we honestly think she'd benefit from some beginning obedience classes so she can bond with her new family and get all the basics down pat!!  She's house broken, crate trained, spayed, HW negative and up to date on all vaccines.  ALL this girl needs is that perfect forever home....the one she's been dreaming about since we rescued her!

Jemma wants you to send an email to savingcarolinadogs@yahoo.com so she can see if your family might be the right one for her!

Sophia

ADOPTED!!

Meet Sophia - a female Carolina Dog mix that is about 2 years old that is being courtesy posted by Saving Carolina Dogs due to her family (military) being deployed overseas.
They rescued her in 2014 from a high kill shelter and treated her for HW (she's 100% recovered now) and she settled in very well with their family.  They're only able to take 2 of their pets with them and the cat and other CD will be going with them, Sophia needs to find her new forever home.
She's a beautiful tan and buff CD mix and she's very lovable. However, she does have a high prey drive and would do best with no other small animals (including small breed dogs) in the home.  She does live with an adult cat, but has shown aggression towards kittens - so you'd have to be experienced if you were to introduce her to a cat.
She walks well on a leash, loves car rides, enjoys being outside - LOVES children!  She does OK with dogs her size, but is Alpha at a dog park so she'd be better with an active family that doesn't go to them.
She'd be perfect for someone who likes to go hunting with her excellent prey drive and ability to catch small animals.
Sophia is spayed and up to date on all vaccines - she's a very sweet girl - if you think she might be the right dog for you, please send an email to savingcarolinadogs@yahoo.com

Lucy

ADOPTED!!

We'd like to welcome Lucy a sweet little Carolina Dog that is being fostered in the Pensacola area of FL into the SCD rescue network!
Lucy is an amazingly intelligent CD that LOVES being outdoors - she also likes to jump fences, for fun - lol - so we're looking for a home with a high (at least 6 foot) and very secure fenced in yard where she could run and play.  She's about to begin her treatment for Heartworm so she won't be ready for a forever home until somewhere around the end of April 2016 - SCD is teaming up with another rescue to treat her so she'll be 100% healthy when she's ready to be adopted!
She's been spayed, she's 100% house broken, likes cats, children and most other dogs - introductions would need to be made on a neutral territory as she tends to have a bit of an "Alpha" attitude.  We'd like to see her in a home with a family experienced with the breed, enjoys doing outdoor activities and revolves their lives around their 4 legged members!
We encourage all of our adopters to sign up for training classes so that the dog can learn their boundaries, commands, and form that life long bond that's so essential between dog and guardians.
Please send an email to savingcarolinadogs@yahoo.com if you think Lucy might be the right dog for you.  As always transport is available for any of our dogs within the US!

Lorelai

ADOPTED!!!

Lorelai is a stunning Carolina Dog estimated to be about a year old, weighs 34 lbs., and was rescued from the Devore Shelter in San Bernardino CA. days before she was to be put down. Her foster Mom thinks she would be best as an only dog and she's going to need some training since she's so young - but she's got the basics down!
She does have a high prey drive so we think a home with no cats would be the best.  She loves going on walks and she's got some energy to burn being so young, so we're looking for a fairly active home for her that will be able to give her the exercise she needs.  Her coat is incredibly soft and she loves being cuddled up on the couch at the end of a long day of playing and chasing critters outdoors.
She's currently in foster in San Diego and we will work with an approved applicant on transport....but local is always better so it's less stress on a dog!
Let's get this gorgeous girl into her forever home so she can bond with her new family and get her that second chance all dogs dream about!
Interested??  Please send an email to savingcarolinadogs@yahoo.com

Jada

ADOPTED!!!

Jada is a sweet little girl just under a year old that was surrendered to Saving Carolina Dogs due to a change in her owners living situation.  We took her in and had her spayed and vaccinated - she's now hanging out with a pack of 5 other Carolina Dogs/ mixes and she's doing well...but we feel she'd do better with a smaller pack with maybe just one other dog.  She's very lovable and after a day of playing outdoors, she loves to snuggle up to you.  She does have a high prey drive, but is ok with the cats in the house.
Jada is young enough that she'd fit into just about any home and she'd definitely benefit from an experienced training class so she can learn her boundaries.  Her foster Mom says she's very intelligent and is learning commands and where her place is in the pack very quickly.  She was with the same family since she was a small pup - so she'll transition well.  Jada does have a lot of energy, but she also loves being a couch pup and spending time with her humans.
Does Jada sound like the Carolina Dog you've been looking for?  If so, please send us an email at savingcarolinadogs@yahoo.com  for an adoption applic

Gus

This is our big boy Gus.....such a special and sweet boy.  Gentle and loving, sweet and cuddly, easy going and goofy - he's a big Carolina Dog that we pulled from Memphis Animal Control.  He was very skinny and he tested positive for HW, had a severe URI and was on the euth list - enter his amazing foster Mom & Dad and their pack who opened their hearts and home to him.  Gus is just beginning his HW treatment now that that pesky URI has been kicked to the curb and we will see him through this until he's 100% heathy.
Although he's a big guy.....he plays so gently with his foster sister and little brother....he'd be great in any home.  He's neutered, crate trained, utd on all vaccinations and once he finishes his HW treatment he's going to make one family luckier than their wildest dreams!  He's gaining weight so we think he'll be about 70 lbs. once he's regained his health - on the high end for a CD, but not off the charts.
We're taking applications for him - and you're more than welcome to join our Facebook rescue group where you'll see updates on him as he progresses.  We LOVE this guy - gentle giant that thinks he's a lap puppy - he's between 2-3 years old and has a lot of living to do :)  If you've ever wanted a BIG dog that acts like a small dog.....well here he is!
Shoot us an email at savingcarolinadogs@yahoo.com if you think he might be the dog for you!

Bowie

Ground Control to Major Tom!!! Say HELLO to this lovely 10 month old pup we pulled from a shelter in Texas just in the nick of time.....this is Bowie - named after a rock legend because we truly believe this boy IS legendary!
Bowie will be going from TX to VA within the next week (2/10/16) to a foster home now that he's ready to start looking for that perfect forever home!  He's up to date on his vaccines, neutered, loves dogs, walking, hiking, playing - he really wants to play in the water but we had to let him recover from his neutering....it's just a matter of time though!  He's a medium sized Carolina Dog at 37 lbs. with beautiful buff markings, a fish hook tail, and a wonderful spirit.  Cats are a maybe right now as he's interested but he's a rough and tumble pup so we don't want any kitties to get hurt.  He loves to talk back to his squeaky toys and tosses them around encouraging them to come to life and play with him.  His foster brother and he love going on adventures and runs together - he's almost completely house broke (he has had a few accidents in the indoor garage - but never in the house....practice makes perfect!
Bowie would love to have a family to call his own!  Kids, another dog and a family that's active and likes to go out and have fun would be perfect for him - he's not a couch potato, that's for sure :)
If you're interested in this gorgeous little boy, send an email to
savingcarolinadogs@yahoo.com so we can get an adoption app out to you.  Maybe he's the perfect pup you've been dreaming about all winter!
