Indy - Carolina Dog mix in FL

Indy is a very special boy that we rescued from the Broward County shelter in FL.  Seems he sustained an old injury to his left front leg that left him with atrophied muscle causing him to limp.  He does use the leg so we're going to get him some physical therapy to help him regain even more use of it.

Indy is about 2 years old and weighs 40 lbs.  He's housebroken, walks well on a leash, up to date on vaccines and loves being outdoors!
Whatever happened to him didn't affect his personality or his love for life - he's a happy, smiling and very dog friendly guy!  He will be in foster with SCD until we feel he's ready to go on to his forever home so feel free to join our FB group page to check in on his progress!!!

UPDATE ON INDY!
Indy has been in foster for several weeks now! We've had him neutered and seen by our vet who feels he is ready for his forever home. Although he'll always have a bit of a limp, he's able to run and play and his personality is award winning!  He'd be great with a family that is active but will take it slow with him - other dogs would be a plus as he's a very social pup!

Sitka - 10 month old Carolina Dog

Sitka is gorgeous....and he's just getting started! He's only 10 months old so he's all legs and loves running and playing!  Once he's full grow, this boy is going to be stunning!
We rescued Sitka along with his siblings Sage & Shiloh from the San Antonio shelter in TX.  All 3 are headed East on transport to new foster homes!
We had him tested with cats and he showed no reaction to them, he's house broken, HW negative, neutered and he's UTD on all of his vaccinations!
If you'd like to know more about Sitka - send us an email at savingcarolinadogs@yahoo.com

Sage - 10 month old Carolina Dog (mix)

Sage is a beautiful female Carolina Dog mix that we rescued with her 2 siblings (Sitka & Shiloh) from the San Antonio TX shelter.  She's about 10 months old and weighs 30 lbs. so she still has some growing to do.  She's been spayed, all of her vaccinations have been updated, and she has a coat that is truly unique.
Sage has a great personality and she loves to play with her brother & sister.  We're not so sure how she is with cats but she is fine with other dogs.  She's headed up to Maine to be fostered with one of our best fosters, so New England - if you're looking for a stunning, head turning female Carolina Dog this just may be the one you've been looking for!!

Red & River - 4 year old, bonded male and female Carolina Dogs

River (female) & Red (male) are 2 pure bred Carolina Dogs that are 4 years old and bonded - they need to find a forever home together.  They are fully vetted and up to date on all vaccines, Heartworm negative, micro chipped, house trained, crate trained and very intelligent.
Because of their high prey drive we ask that there are no other small animals in the home - absolutely NO CATS!  Other dogs are OK, they are fine with children but because they are over 70 lbs. each, we recommend older children...maybe like 12 and up.
They need a fair amount of exercise and they have to have a very secure yard with an active family that will promise to keep an eye on them as they have been known to scale (climb) fences.
These two pups are very sweet and loving - Red seems to connect very well with humans and River does also but she's very bonded with Red....she just loves to be next to her best friend.
They are currently in the West Hartford area of CT and we'd LOVE to find them a local home here in New England.  They will come with new leashes, collars and Ruffwear harnesses - Saving Carolina Dogs is willing to help pay for training with a professional trainer so that a strong bond of mutual respect and obedience can be achieved with whomever adopts them.
If you're an active, Carolina Dog experienced family looking for 2 amazing dogs - please contact us so we can talk.

Willow - approx. 6 month old female being fostered in SC

Willow is one 1 of 5 puppies that we pulled from a shelter in NC to save their lives...and we think she's a very special little Carolina Dog mix!  Her coloring is unique, she's got flecks of blue in her eyes (which according to the breed standard and the founder of the breed - Dr. Brisbin - is now acceptable).  She loves other dogs, cats, people, playing and hunting for moles and other underground creatures that are fun to chase!
Willow is currently down in the low country in SC and she'd love to find her forever home once she's been spayed.  We've had all of the puppies checked by the vet and they were treated for parasites and started on HW preventative.  This little one has a touch of demodectic mange that we're treating also....she'll be good as new in no time!
She's around 6 months old, the perfect age to introduce to her new family so she can grow up with them!!
If you'd like to know more about Willow or fill out an application, please contact us at

Ruby - 6 month old female being fostered in NC

Ruby is another puppy from the group of 5 we pulled to safety in NC - and she's a little spitfire!  She loves to romp and play until she collapses in a heap of exhausted puppy cuteness!  She's around 6 months but on the small side weighing only about 20 lbs. She's currently traveling from NC to FL on vacation with her foster family and her adorable little brother Casper - but she'll be back in NC soon!
We're not too sure about how she is with kitties, she chased her foster's kitties when she first got there so we're thinking a home with no cats might be best for her.
She's going to grow into a beautiful girl now that she's getting proper nutrition and exercise - we think she'll be no more than 40 lbs.
If you'd like to inquire about Ruby, send us an email at savingcarolinadogs@yahoo.com

Nessa - Adopted!!!

This sweet little Carolina Dog mix was just waiting for us to come and rescue her from the Manchester County, TN shelter.  This is Nessa who's a very lovable girl we think is less than a year old - she's just a bundle of energy and fun!!  We had her foster test her with cats and she was just fine - she loves to play with other dogs and runs like a deer!
She is what we call a 'jumper' though - meaning if she has a fence in front of her, she's going to jump it!  So we're looking for a home that does NOT have a fenced yard.  This doesn't mean you don't have to be conscientious about where she is - all dogs should have supervision no matter where they are. But we'd like to find an active family that will include her in their activities and will also take her for training classes so she can learn recall and bond with her family.
Nessa is spayed, up to date on all vaccines, and she's HW negative.  She would love to have a family to entertain and snuggle up on the couch with - maybe that's your family??
If you'd like to know more about Nessa, send us an email at savingcarolinadogs@yahoo.com
Don't let this one slip away - she's a beauty!!

Dexter - 6 month old male being fostered in NC

Dexter is 1 of 5 puppies pulled by our rescue from a shelter in Kenansville, NC.
We think he's around 6 months or so and he's 32 lbs - but we expect him to get bigger than that.
So far his personality is very sweet and playful, he's not one of those 'way too full of energy puppies' - he likes just lounging out with you after going for a nice walk!
Dexter will be neutered before he's adopted out to his forever home, he's pretty much house broken so he'll adjust to a new home with no problem.  He's currently in foster care with 2 adult Carolina Dogs and a Miniature Pinscher so dogs of any size seem to be fine.
Interested??  Send us an email at savingcarolinadogs@yahoo.com
We'd love to hear from you!

Casper - 6 month old male being fostered in NC

We're pretty sure Casper is Ruby's brother, they're both about the same size and pal around together - but they're not bonded so we're looking for separate homes for them.
He's a good little guy who likes to go off and find his own things to play with and he's quite content playing by himself but also plays very well in a pack of dogs.  He's been vetted and he's HW negative (as are all of the other puppies) he weighs just over 20 lbs. and will probably top out around 40 lbs.
He's housebroken and learning to walk on a leash and obey commands.  Casper has a beautiful cream colored coat, darkly lined eyes and a great little fish hook tail!

If you're looking for a sweet little boy to add to your pack send us an email so we can see if you might have the right home for Casper the Friendly Puppy!
